Course Overview
Al Balagh Academy is offering this exclusive course for those who would like to explore and analyse the Qur'an and the Bible in the light of History and Archaeology. The course will examine the Qur'anic narrative and compare it with the Biblical and Historical Narratives. The course will delve into different narratives of The Creation Story, The flood of Nuh(PBUH), The story of Abraham(PBUH) and Joseph(PBUH), The exodus, The Monarchy (Saul, David, Solomon & the Divided Kingdom), Jesus(PBUH) and Christian Origins, and The Muhammad(PBUH) Foretold.
In this course, we study how the Qur’an engages with biblical tradition—including the Bible and para-biblical, Jewish and Christian traditions—in its retelling of narratives from Biblical history, affirming Biblical tradition in some respects while correcting it in others. We will also be considering how Biblical criticism and archaeology provide additional historical background for understanding the Biblical and Qur’anic narratives, as well as questions they raise about the historicity of these narratives.
This course will enable you to understand the Qur'anic claims about Biblical history, scripture, and Tradition, and will explore how the Qur'an engages with and correctively retells stories from Biblical tradition. The course will also equip you with the understanding of how historical criticism and archeology provide background for understanding Biblical and Qur'anic narratives. The course is suitable for those who are interested in Qur'anic Studies and would like to explore the Qur'an from Biblical and Historical perspectives.
