About The Course

Islamic Psychology and Counselling Level 2 provides an exclusive opportunity for students of foundational knowledge to develop it into an advanced understanding of Psychology and Counselling from an Islamic perspective. Those who have completed AlBalagh Counselling and Psychology Level 1 are eligible to enrol for this course.

Students will strengthen both their theoretical and practical knowledge and the skills pertaining to it. It takes an advanced approach to Islamic counselling and the principles to underpin various forms of talking therapy rather than conventional psychological therapies. The course aims to support the development of counselling skills in the wider Muslim community to enable the adequate provision of cure to individuals suffering through psychological distress, as well as to provide a faith-based, holistic model for those who practise counselling as a profession. Students will learn and apply the philosophy and methodology of psychology from an Islamic perspective. The course presents a faith-based theoretical understanding of psychological well-being and support, and development of excellent counselling skills in the community to deal with complex patients. Furthermore, students will learn the practical ways of working with mentally distressed individuals and understanding where a specialist referral is required.

This is an unprecedented course, delivered by Muslim Psychologists, Psychotherapists and counsellors from diverse backgrounds, who specialise in Islamic psychological therapy.

The course will cover broad key concepts within Islamic Psychology, develop an advanced understanding of psychological approaches and the enhancement of counselling skills to support those with difficulties, within the Islamic framework.

The course is catered for anyone who has an interest in Islamic Psychology and supporting people in the community. Islamic Psychology and Counselling Level 2 will provide a progressive and broad overview of each area with relevant and challenging concepts.

Course Overview

The course aims to provide both a more advanced approach to Islamic Psychology and a multi-modal approach to a diverse variety of psychological difficulties within an Islamic framework. The course will also offer skills-based approach in developing the counselling skills of everyday people who support people in various roles in the community. This includes those involved in mentoring and offering pastoral support in mosques, schools, colleges, madrasas, hospitals and in community centers. The course provides both theory and case-based practical advice on some of the most common and challenging issues for Muslims with respect to psychological difficulties. Some of the topics that will be addressed are as follows:

    The Key Objectives Of This Course Are:

    • Identify and describe the diverse Islamic models of Islamic Psychology.
    • Distinguish culturally relative factors from universal factors in
      Conventional psychology.

    The aspiring students should either:

    • Have completed Al Balagh Islamic Psychology and Counselling – Level 1 online course.
    • Have a diploma or bachelor’s degree.
    • Professional psychology practitioners

    The programme is exclusively tailored for advanced students, to provide them with an opportunity to develop advanced expertise in Islamic Psychology and Counselling in a short period.     Completely Online: Online education has enabled pursuing almost every course and programme easy. Students can attend the live classes from the comfort of their home and complete their sacred journey of Islamic learning without compromising on other commitments.

    Online Learning Activities: Students can get access to the course content and complete the coursework from anywhere and at any time. Online learning activities ensure notable progress in students’ knowledge of the course content and adds to the final score.

    Practical Hours 

    After completing the live interactive online sessions, students are required to complete 20 practical hours as an observer under any certified counselling practitioner. One may have to find the practitioner in their locality and submit the observations in the format provided by Al Balagh. If required, the Academy will assist you with the contacts of practitioners; however, the final choice remains yours.

    Mobile App: Students can attend lectures, watch recordings and complete their learning activities on the go with MyAlBalagh mobile App.

    Students need to complete all the assessments based on the lectures given via live online sessions to complete the course successfully. There will be a graded final exam at the end of each level, and upon the successful completion of Islamic Psychology and Counselling – Level 2 Course, students can apply for our upcoming long-term Degree level course on clinical psychology.

    If you are unable to attend a live session or have missed it, you can view recorded sessions on your course dashboard. You can access all the completed Recordings, PPT and assessments anytime.

    Can I download the recordings and watch it offline?

    You can download recordings and PPT of the course sessions from the myAlBalagh mobile App for all the enrolled courses.The recordings will be available for students after 48 hours of the live session.

    Do I get marks for watching course recordings and presentations?

    There are no additional marks for watching the course recordings. Only the module Assessments and the final exam add up to the final score.You can check the individual scores of your Assessments under the Progress tab of myAlBalagh.

    I have doubts but I cannot attend the live session. Any other way to ask my questions?

    You can discuss your doubts via Course WhatsApp Group dedicated for student discussion or access the Discussion Board on myAlBalagh. It is a platform for you to ask questions, discuss and get your doubts cleared.

    When will the final exam be held?

    The Final Exam will be held at the end of the course and will be a Graded And Timed Exam.
