Course Overview
A good marriage is the foundation of any family structure. If a marriage is healthy, then there is some assurance that such a family will cope better with the many challenges that society throws. Children will be happier and more able, there will be a happy and loving environment that will grow a healthy culture for all. Most importantly, a good marriage makes a good family, which is what makes a good society.
Marriage is ultimately a legal and Islamic practice; at the same time, it is a custom between cultural realities and social contexts. While Islamic Fiqh offers us boundaries on the regulations and rules governing marriage, the cultural and social changes shape a healthy married relationship and help maintain a life-long functional partnership.
Al Balagh Academy’s Islamic Guide to a Successful Marriage online course will combine all the fundamental secrets that make a marriage work coupled with the Fiqhi and psychological perspective and a marriage framework comprising years of real educational and practical experience of dealing with issues of Islamic marriage in the contemporary era, particularly regarding Muslims living in the West. The course will focus on the lived reality of marriage and the family dynamics, far from people’s simplistic interpretation and understanding of marriage’s legal rights and responsibilities.
In an era where divorce is way too familiar, this course brings forward real-life case studies that will help students to see marriage for what it is, i.e., a complex and multi-faceted relationship that requires commitment and continuous involvement. At times, marriage is beautiful and fulfilling, and at others, it is challenging, and in both, we have to keep the boat sailing.
This course will discuss domestic violence, infertility and holistic medical solutions, marital breakdown, divorce, and subsequent custody and spousal support issues. Overall, it voices the various positive and negative experiences in a marriage without glossing out the painful aspects.
