Course Overview
This course will not just map out the chronology of how writings of tafsīr developed throughout Islamic history, but how each mufassir developed his hermeneutical approach to the Qur’ān. The course will present a different book of tafsīr for different parts of the Qur’ān, beginning with the earliest to the more contemporary works. The aim is to complete the whole Qur’an gradually. Different tafsir kutub have their particularities which are expressed more emphatically in different parts of the Qur’an relative toothers. Therefore we have allocated different kutub to different surahs where it was felt that these particularities could be most appreciated.
Immerse yourself in this great opportunity in gaining a broad and deep understanding of some of the most important tafsīr books that have been pivotal in this science and learn the benefits, strengths and critique that exist in them and also about their authors.
