Course Overview
The Advanced Hospital Chaplaincy course provides a platform to learn, discuss and acquire skills to meet the role of chaplain.
The course has two parts, theoretical and practical.
The theoretical part intends to develop the students with competent interpersonal skills, some experience of community work, and attain a good understanding of Muslim Chaplaincy.
The practical part of the course will involve an internship in a healthcare organisation or a major project assigned by the course team. The objective of the major project/ internship is to enable students to observe closely and practice in the area relevant to their field of interest. The students should demonstrate their ability to relate the skills and knowledge gained from the course. This experience will help integrate theory and practice and develop confidence for the future.
Students will have to find the organisations within their respective areas and conveniences for practical training.
This course is suitable for male and female chaplains, advisors/consultants on religious matters, Imams, managers of mosques, madaris and Islamic cultural centres and anyone in chaplaincy work.
The advanced hospital Chaplaincy course intends to critically explore Islamic and practical issues related to chaplaincy. The course will provide students with a good grasp of the professional implementation of Muslim chaplaincy. It covers a broad spectrum of topics which one may encounter in their career as a chaplain, employing a practical, spiritual and psychological approach for Muslim chaplains/Imams to be trained in their sector.
